Week 3 Update! Always Eat After 7pm

This post is brought to you by our sponsor, “Always Eat After 7 PM”. The opinions expressed below are my own.

Now that I am out of the Acceleration Phase and into the Main Phase, it has become pretty routine following this diet. Like I mentioned in my initial post, I wasn’t going for major weight loss here, but was pleasantly surprised with losing a couple of pounds since starting! The best part is I am noticing such an awesome energy increase compared to what I expected. Learning how to build my daily meals around this new schedule is proving to be very rewarding. I have found that using the example meals in the book has helped me to stay consistent on days I don’t want to figure out how to build my own compliant meal. It is a pretty easy method outlined to build your own, but as a busy mom I know that having those recipes on hand as a backup has helped my success. I will stay in the Main Phase until I reach my goal, which is roughly 5 lbs of weight loss, then I will move to the Lifestyle Phase to maintain a healthier way of life.

One of the main reasons I wanted to do this program was to feel more energized to keep up with my busy young daughter. I’m happy to report that I have felt like I can stay energized longer throughout the day to keep up with her than ever before.

The combination of intermittent fasting and eating the right kinds of foods at the right time means that I can tap into my body’s natural circadian rhythm and optimize it. Joel goes into more detail about this in the book, and it’s amazing to read all of the scientific information he cites and synthesizes in there. Eating the foods from the food lists is easy, since it is full of things I already love, and a lot that I already eat. My favorite recipe so far is the “No Bake Salted Caramel Bars”, I still can’t believe they are allowed on this plan!

Something interesting that I learned in the book is that:

“Research shows that the average person’s metabolic rate is no different during sleep than during the day. In short, your metabolism doesn’t slow down at night. Nor does your body store fat at the end of the day. Whether it’s 8 am or 8 pm, you use food for energy the same way.”

That was one thing that helped me wrap my head around the idea of eating treats like this at night, and I can’t see myself ever going back now!
